praying for warmer weather

we knew it would be colder in the northeast, but i think we may not have fully grasped what it's like to live in the cold. in albuquerque, we had our fair share of cold days, but they usually weren't for weeks at a time and being cold meant a few shivers while we ran from the car into work or the house. in nyc the last two weeks, we've had highs in the low 20's, which means the girls and i are commuting in the mornings in 2 degree weather. it takes us a good hour at home to finally feel our toes again :). needless-to-say, we are anxiously awaiting spring and it's not even february yet...please send warm thoughts our way!

the lake at prospect is frozen over except for a small circle in the middle. the trees that you see in the foreground are actually on an island about 150 feet from shore.

playing in the snow

sunday afternoon, jess and clay went to a party for a friend of her's, so i took hailey and madison to the park to play in the snow. they were really into getting their pictures taken, so i took full advantage.

snowballs in mid-air

maddy made an attempt at building a snowman, but it was too cold for the snow to stick together

cousins

six of my parents' eight grandchildren were in town for new year's, so we took the opportunity to grab a few snapshots of everyone together. hopefully, we'll have all 8 grandchildren and all 7 siblings + spouses/significant others together for the first time in june for our family reunion. :)
